Design & eco-design

All our models are designed in Belgium 🇧🇪 with your comfort and durability in mind.

Our cups are stretchy over 2 cup sizes , to allow you to wear your Kallisto during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and after - yourself, or passing it on to another mom ❤️

Every detail, from the breastfeeding opening system to the positioning of the labels, has been designed to make your life easier .

The prototypes were validated after several round trips with the workshop, thanks to the valuable feedback from more than 35 test mothers .

Materials

All materials used for Kallisto nursing lingerie are carefully selected according to strict specifications.

All our suppliers are located in the European Union 🇪🇺 , which allows us to:
(1) reduce the carbon footprint of our products as much as possible
(2) ensure good working and manufacturing conditions.

Origin of our materials:
- Recycled lace certified by Global Recycled Standard (Italy 🇮🇹)
- GOTS certified organic cotton (Portugal 🇵🇹)
- Absorbent material certified Oeko-Tex 100 (France 🇫🇷)
- Draining material certified Oeko-Tex 100 (Spain 🇪🇸)
- Waterproof material (laminated polyurethane) certified Oeko-Tex 100 (Spain 🇪🇸)
- Haberdashery (fasteners, clasps, rings, elastics, etc.) Portuguese 🇵🇹

The dyeing of the fabrics takes place in a closed circuit in Portugal 🇵🇹 so as not to contaminate the environment (that's the basis after all!).

And what does it look like?

Clothing workshop

For the making of the models, we chose a family workshop in Portugal 🇵🇹 run by a woman , who employs around fifty other women.

The working conditions are great, the seamstresses are specialized in lingerie, and it's important for us to support European SMEs run by girlbosses 💪

In order to reduce cutting waste as much as possible, the workshop optimizes the cutting of materials and recovers lace cutting scraps for the details of the panties.

Canon, while reducing waste!

Packaging

For the packaging of your parcels, we have chosen compact envelopes made of recycled plastic from bottles collected on Asian beaches by people for whom collecting has become their main income. It is then reusable and recyclable ♻️

📦 And why not cardboard?

Cardboard has several disadvantages that made us opt for recycled plastic envelopes:

1. The pile of cardboard 🗑️ from our household sorting bins, of which we only reuse a tiny part.

2. The weather ☔️ For a Belgian brand, rain is a real problem! So rather than using cardboard packages and wrapping the models in ultra-polluting plastic bags to protect the models, we opted for a waterproof package that allows us to simply wrap the models in recyclable tissue paper.

3. Volume ⛰️ Lingerie is compact. So packing parcels in cardboard boxes doesn't make sense: plastic envelopes allow you to stack more parcels per trip, and therefore reduce the CO2 footprint of deliveries .

And then?

Once you have finished breastfeeding , what happens to your Kallisto?

It will still be in superb condition, so you have several options:

1. Keep wearing it! If the size still fits, why end such a beautiful story?
2. Pass it on to another mom. If the size no longer fits you, or you want to please a loved one who is about to breastfeed.
3. Resell it second-hand. Through an online platform, or via a specialist store: there are more and more of them.
4. Give it away. To an association, or to a charity collection organization, for example.

In short, there is no shortage of options to extend the life of your Kallisto 😉
